The device operations with a wide input voltagerangingfrom3Vto40VthatmakesDIA7866 a good fit for severe operating conditions including loaddump,coldcranking andstart-stop. The low quiescent current and low dropout voltage allow operations at extremely low-power levels. With only 6 µA ultra-low quiescent current at no load, the DIA7866 is quite suitable for microcontrollers and CAN/LIN transceivers power supply in standby systems. The regulator output current is limited internally, and thedeviceisprotectedagainstshort-circuit,over-load, andover-temperatureconditions. The DIA7866 is available in EP-SOIC8 package. The low-quiescent current and low-dropout voltage allow operations at extremely low-power levels. With only 6 µA ultra-low quiescent current at no load, the DIA7866 is quite suitable for microcontrollers and CAN/LIN transceivers power supply in standby systems. The regulator output current is limited internally, and the device is protected against short-circuit, over-load, and over-temperature conditions. 9.1. Deviceenable(EN) The device can be enabled and disabled by the EN pin. The EN pin is a high-voltage tolerant pin.A high inputturnsthe regulationonand activates thedevice.Toenable anddisable thedevice,connectthis pinto anexternalmicrocontroller oradigitalcircuit,or connecttotheINpinforself-biasapplications. 9.2. Powergood For DIA7866BA version, the PG pin is the open drain of an internal MOSFET. The PG pin should be connected to VOUT or external voltage source (< 16 V) through a resistor.For example, the resistor value could be 100 kΩ. If the VFB reaches 93% of its nominal value, the MOSFET turns off and PG pin is pulled highbyVOUTorexternalvoltagesource.IftheVFB dropsto87%ofnominalvalue,thePGvoltageispulled toGND. When PG pin is pulled high, there is a delay time, which can be programmed by a capacitor on PGDL. To choosevalueofacapacitoronPGDL, refertotheequation(1): (V)V A)(I×(ms)t=(nF)C th_PGDL PGDLPGDL PGDL μ (1) Where: tPGDL is thedesireddelay timeforPGtopullhigh; IPGDL is thePGDLcharging current; Vth_PGDL isPGDLhighthreshold. 9.3. Undervoltageshutdown The DIA7866 will be shut down if the input voltage (VIN) falls below an internal UVLO threshold (VUVLO). In the event that the input voltage drops below UVLO threshold and recovers, as soon as the voltage returns to the proper range, the regulator shuts down and powers up with a normal power-up sequence. Ensure that the regulator does not latch into an unknown state during low-input-voltage conditions. The regulator shutsdown and powersupwith anormalpower-upsequencewhen the inputvoltageis abovethe required level. 9.4. Thermalshutdown The DIA7866 is protected by a thermal shutdown (TSD) circuit from overheating. The junction temperature exceedingtheTSD trippointcausestheoutputtoturnoff,andtheoutputwillturnonagainwhenthejunction temperaturefalls belowtheTSD trippoint.

OperationwithVIN lowerthan3V The DIA7866 can operate with input voltages above 3 V and at lower input voltages, the maximum UVLO voltageis2.9V,andthe devicedoesnotoperateatinputvoltagesbelowtheactualUVLOvoltage. 9.6. OperationwithVIN higherthan3V When VIN is higher than the output set value plus the device dropout voltage and higher than 3 V, VOUT is equaltothesetvalue.Otherwise,VOUT isequaltoVIN minus thedropoutvoltage.
