Tuffy II ® Liquid LevelC ontrols with ElectricSwitches D E S C R I P T I O N The Tuffy ® IILiquid Level Sw itches are float-actuated devices designed forhorizontalmo unting in a tank or vesselthrough threaded orflanged pipeconnections.The compac tsizeallows forinstallation insmallvessels,while itsman y features provide a variety of application uses. The single switch mechanism is availablein SPDT or DP DT forms on unitsdesigned for fixed or adjustable, narrow or w ide differentialand interface service levels. Thissalesliterature covers TuffyIIlevelswitchesthat have electricswitches.F orTuffywitha pneum aticswitch, see bulletin 44-109. T E C H N O L O G Y The Tuffy IIachievesswitchingaction through the use of a m agnetic switchmec hanism and a mag net attached to thefloatassembly.Separating the two m agnets is a non- mag neticpressurebarrier. As the liquidlevelchanges,the float,and therefore the floatm agnet,moves.The floatand switch mag nets repel each other causing movemen t of the switch mag net assemb ly,trippingtheswitchand mak ing or breaking an electricalcircuit.
