1.0 De scription
The R etractableProbeA ssembly can be usedw ith Magnetrol’sfullline ofinsertion probes,including Therm atel ® thermaldispersion probes,Kotron ® RF capacitanceprobes,and Echote l® ultrasonic contact transducers. The R etractableProbeA ssembly permitstheprobeor transducerto be installedin orremoved from thevessel orpipe whiletheprocessisin operation. A fterinitial installation, itisnotnecessarytodrain ordepressurizethe tankorshut down the operation to installtheinstrume nt. The R etractableProbeA ssembly ismad e from 316 stain - lesssteelwith optionalcarbon steelorstainlesssteelflanges and ballvalves.Variousdesignspermitoperation up to ANSI Class300 pound service.

2.0 G eneralInstructions
2.1 Probe Insertion
- Ensure thattheballvalveisclosed. 2. Loosen the sealnutofthe RetractableProbe Assem blyand insertthe probe. 3. Attach the safety cableto the retaining ring (low pressure) orconnectthe probe tothe 3⁄4 " NPT connection on the retaining bar(high pressure). 4. Carefullyslide the probe pastthe T eflon sealing rings ensuring thatthe probe tip doesnothitthe closed ball valve.Op tionally,theRetractableProbe A ssembly may be disassem bled to slide thesealnutand T eflonv-ringsover theprobe before inserting intothe gland nut. 5. Slightlytighten the sealnutto permitmo vement ofthe probe pasttheT eflon v-rings,but also toavoidleakage. 6. Op en theisolation ballvalveand insertthe probe tothe desired location in the vessel.Fo rEchoteland T hermatel sensors,properlyalignthe probe/transducerin the vessel. 7. Tighten the sealnut.
2.2 Probe Remova l
- Slightlyloosen the sealnutto permitmo vement ofthe probe,butalso toavoidleakage. 2. Withdraw the probe from the vesselto the length perm itted by the safety chain oradjustme nt rods. 3. Close theisolation valve. 4. Rem ovethe probe from the safety cable(low pressure) ordisconnecttheprobe from the retaining bar (highpressure).
