When measuring output ripple & noise, it is recommended that external capaci- tors (10 µF & 1 µF) be connected in parallel from the +VOUT to the -VOUT pins. 2. Transient recovery is measured to within a 1% error band for a load step change of 25%. 3. The voltage at the Remote On/Off pin (Pin 6) is referenced to the -VIN input (Pin 2). If the on/off pin is left open, the unit operates. If it is grounded, the unit will shut off. 4. Operation at no-load will not damage these units. However, they may not meet all specifi cations. The recommended minimum load is given in the model selection table above. 5. It is recommended that a fuse be used on the input of a power supply for protection. See the Model Selection table above for the correct rating. The connection is shown in the diagram at left. Typical Connection Typical Board Layout: With Filtering Components Simple Connection The diagram at left illustrates a typical connection of the MI20xxS-xxERU series. Capacitors C 1 and C2 are fi ltering components. They are required to meet the EN 55022 requirements for Class A. The recommended component values are given in the table below. VOUT C1 (µF) C 3 (µF) 3.3/5 VDC 100 470 12/15 VDC 100 220 The diagram above illustrates a typical connection of the MI20xxSERU series. for an application that requires compliance to with input surge and EMC standards EN 55022 and EN 61000 (as specifi ed above). Some notes on these components are: 1. It is recommended that an external fuse be used. The recommended fuse is shown in the model chart on page 2. 2. An external MOV is recommended on the input to protect the unit in the event of a surge. A recommended value is given in the table at right. 3. The output fi ltering capacitor (C 3) is a high frequency, low resistance electrolytic capacitor. Care must be taken in choosing this capacitor not to exceed the capacitive load specifi cation for the unit. Voltage derating of capacitors should be 80% or above. 4. Suggested component values are: Component VIN: 24V V IN: 48V MOV S14K35 S14K60 C1 330µF/50V 330µF/100V C2 1 µF/50V 1 µF/100V C3 Refer to the values for the “Simple Connection” LDM1 4.7 µH 4.7 µH CY1, CY2 1 nF/2 kV 1 nF/2 kV 5. In many applications, simply adding input/output capacitors will en- hance the input surge protection & and reduce output ripple suf- fi ciently. In this case, capacitors C 1 and C3 could be connected as shown above, without the other fi lter components. Recommended capacitor values are given in the table above. The diagram at left shows a typical PC board layout for the MI20xxSERU with the input surge and fi lter components shown above. The minimum distance between the bonding pads for capacitors C Y1 and C Y2 must be > 2mm,
