TA = -40° to 70° C for package The IL6840 is a m onolithic integrated circuit telephone tone ringer with bridge diode, when coupled with an appropriate transducer, it replaces the electro-mechanical bell. The device is designed for use wi th either a piezo transducer or an i nexpensive t ransformer coupl ed speaker t o produce a pl easing t one com posed of a hi gh frequency (fR) altern ating with a lo w freq uency (fL) resul ting i n a warbl e frequency . The suppl y voltage is obtained from the AC ring signal and the circuit is designed so that noi se on t he l ine or vari ation of t he ri nging si gnal can not affect correct operation of the device.

DESCRIPTION

The IL6840 tone ringer derives its power supply by rectifying the AC ringing signal. It uses this power to activate two tone generators. The two tone frequencies generated are switched by internal oscillator in a fast sequence and made audible across an out put am plifier i n t he l oudspeaker; both t one frequenci es and the swi tching frequency can be externally adjusted. The device can drive either directly a piezo ceram ic converter (buzzer) or small loudspeaker. In case of using a loud-speaker, a transformer is needed. An internal shunt voltage regulator provides DC voltage to the output stag e, low frequency oscillator, and high frequency oscillator.
