B40 levelswitches employ permanent magn eticforce as theonly linkbetween the floatand the switchingelement. As the pivotedfloatfollow s liquid levelchanges, itmoves a m agnetic sleeve into or out of the fieldof a switch actuating mag net causing switch operation. A non- ma gnetic barrier tube effectively isolates the switch mec hanism from the controlled liquid.
