  • O perational D escription The A N 8387S incorporates the tw o channels of drivers. Since both channels have the identical functions, the follow ing describes the channel-1 driver.
  • Block D iagram (C hannel 1 driver) A n error signal (V IN ) input to the pin2 is converted into the absolute value input current IA through the error am plifier and current absolute value circuit. W hen the pin20 is short-circuited to G N D , |V + –V – | ≤ 130m V results regardless of an input error signal (V IN ). If the pin20 is prepared to short-circuit to G N D at pow er-on of the set, it can be used to prevent operation error at pow er-on of the m otor or actuator. W hen the pin20 is not used, short-circuit it to the pins1 and 10. The pin3 is a PC pin. If a voltage of 2.8V or m ore is applied to this pin, SW .B and SW .C are turned on, IA becom es 0m A , and the base current flow s to the bases of Q 3 and Q 4 sim ultaneously to turn on Q 3 and Q 4. A s a result, the pins17 and 18 are alm ost short-circuited to P.G N D . T his IC incorporates the therm al shutdow n circuit. If the chip tem perature of the IC com es to about 160˚C , both drivers of the tw o channels are turned off. (the output pins17, 18, 14, and 13 are short-circuited to P.G N D ) Sim ilarly, if the applied voltage (V ref) of the V ref pin4 com es to 1V or less, both drivers of the tw o channels are turned off. The output voltage V _ of the pin17 and V + of the pin18 can be lim ited by applying a voltage to the V LIM pin20.
