W hen an operator charged up to these levels handles a static sensitive device, there is a very probable likelihood that the device w ill be irreversibly dam aged. It is essential that precautions are taken at all stages during m anufacture and assem bly of these products. A lthough LE Ds w ere never considered to be static sensitive devices, changes in m anufacturing technology and m aterials used to produce higher intensity products over a large range of the w avelength spectrum have changed this. M arl has an approved system of E SD control from goods in, through production and into final packing and despatch. M arl recom m end all users of LE D based products follow the current BSI guidelines for protection of electronic devices from electrostatic phenom ena. Voltage, Current and Temperature The forw ard voltage / current value of an LE D is dependent upon the am bient tem perature of the environm ent in w hich it is operated. Therefore, care m ust be taken to operate the LE D at the correct voltage / current values, depending upon the am bient tem perature. M arl should be contacted if the device is to be operated outside the tem perature range specified. M arl accept no liability for any product that is operated outside the stated voltage or tem perature range. m arlleds m arlinternationallim ited com pany/m arl-international-lim ited
