Preferential areas of application for butterfly valves are, for example, the metal industry, power plant technol- ogy, paper industry as well as mining, shipbuilding and mechanical engineer- ing. Further characteristics and advantages are:

A regulation to an opening angle below 30° is not recommended due to high flow rates and cavitation, which results in early damage of the valve.
