Soldering (1) TZR 1 series can be soldered by reflow soldering m ethod and soldering iron. D o not use flow soldering m ethod (dipping). (2) Soldering condition R efer to the tem perature profile. If the soldering conditions are not suitable, e.g., excessive tim e and/or excessive tem perature, the trim m er capacitor m ay deviate from the specified characteristics. (3) The am ount of solder is critical. (4) The thickness of solder paste should be printed from 100 m icro m to 150 m icro m and the dim ension of land pattern should be M urata's standard land pattern used at reflow soldering. Insufficient am ounts of solder can lead to insufficient soldering strength on PC B. Excessive am ounts of solder m ay cause bridging betw een the term inals or contact failure due to flux w icking up. (5) W hen using soldering iron, the diam eter of the string solder should be less than 0.5m m . The string solder should be applied to the low er part of the term inal only. D o not apply flux except to the term inals. Excessive am ounts of solder and/or applying solder to the upper part of the term inal m ay cause fixed m etal rotor or contact failure due to flux invasion into the m ovable part and/or the contact point. The soldering iron should not com e in contact w ith the m onolithic stator of the trim m er capacitor. If such contact does occur, the trim m er capacitor m ay be dam aged. (6) O ur recom m ended chlorine content of solder is as follow s. (a) Solder paste: 0.2w t% m ax. (b) String solder: 0.5w t% m ax. (7) D o not use w ater-soluble flux (for w ater cleaning). To prevent the deterioration of trim m er capacitor characteristics, apply flux only to term inals. 2. M ounting (1) D o not apply excessive force (preferably 5.0 N [R ef: 500gf] m ax.), w hen the trim m er capacitor is m ounted on the PC B. (2) D o not w arp and/or bend PC B to prevent trim m er capacitor from breaking. (3) U se the suitable dim ension of the pick-up nozzle (1.1-1.2m m external diam eter and 0.8-0.9m m bore diam eter). 3. C leaning C annot be cleaned because of open construction. 4. O ther N ote the polarity of the trim m er capacitor to m inim ize influence by stray capacitance. (R efer to the dim ensions concerning the polarity.) 1. U se suitable screw drivers that fit com fortably in driver slot. *R ecom m ended screw driver for m anual adjustm ent M U R ATA: KM D R 160 2. W hen adjusting w ith a screw driver, do not apply excessive force (preferably 0.5 N [R ef: 50gf] m ax.) to m inim ize capacitance drift. If excessive force is applied to the screw driver slot, it m ay cause deform ation of the products. 3. D o not apply adhesive, lock paints, or any other substances to the trim m er capacitor to secure the rotor position. They m ay cause corrosion or electrical contact problem s.

D o not use the trim m er capacitor under atm osphere of R TV silicone rubber (R oom Tem perature Vulcanizing Silicone R ubber) except Acetone liberating silicone sealant. 2. Before using trim m er capacitor, please store under the condition of -10 to +40 degrees C and 30 to 85% R H . 3. D o not store in or near corrosive gasses. 4. U se w ithin 6 m onths of delivery. 5. D o not store under direct sunlight. 6. D o not use the trim m er capacitor under the conditions listed below . (1) C orrosive gasses atm osphere (ex. C hlorine gas, H ydrogen sulfide gas, Am m onia gas, Sulfuric acid gas, N itric oxide gas, etc.) (2) In liquid (ex. w ater, oil, m edical liquid, organic solvent, etc.) (3) D usty / dirty atm osphere (4) D irect sunlight (5) Static voltage nor electric/m agnetic fields (6) D irect sea breeze (7) O ther variations of the above 1. Soldering (1) TZC 3 series can be soldered by reflow soldering m ethod and soldering iron. (4) The thickness of solder paste should be printed from 150 m icro m to 200 m icro m and the dim ension of land pattern should be M urata's standard land pattern used at reflow soldering. The soldering iron should not com e in contact w ith the stator of the trim m er capacitor. (8) W hen soldering the TZC 3 series, the solder should not flow into the staking part of the substrate. If such flow does occur, driver slot rotation w ill be dam aged. 2. M ounting (1) D o not apply excessive force (preferably 5.0 N [R ef: 500gf] m ax.), w hen the trim m er capacitor is m ounted on the PC B. (2) D o not w arp and/or bend PC B to prevent trim m er capacitor from breakage. (3) U se the suitable dim ension of the pick-up nozzle (2.5m m external diam eter and 1.5m m bore diam eter). 3. C leaning C annot be cleaned because of open construction. 4. O ther N ote the polarity of the trim m er capacitor to m inim ize influence by stray capacitance. W hen adjusting w ith a screw driver, do not apply excessive force (preferably 1.0 N [R ef: 100gf] m ax.) to m inim ize capacitance drift. If excessive force is applied to the screw driver slot, it m ay cause deform ation of the products. 3. D o not apply adhesive, lock paints, or any other substances to the trim m er capacitor to secure the rotor position. They m ay cause corrosion or electrical contact problem s. n Notice (Other) Before using trim m er capacitor, please test after assem bly in your particular m ass production system .
