DESCRIPTION
The TWL6032 deviceisan integratedpower-management integratedcircuit(PMIC) forapplicationspowered by a rechargeablebattery.The deviceprovidesfiveconfigurablestep-downconverterswithup to 5.0-Acurrent capabilityformemory, processorcore,I/O,auxiliary,preregulationforLDOs, etc.Italsocontainsnine LDO regulatorsfor externaluse that can be supplied from a batteryor a preregulatedsupply. The power-up/power-down controlleris configurableand can support any power-up/power-down sequence (programmed inOTP memory). The RTC providesthree32-kHz clockoutputs,seconds,minutes,hours,day, month,and yearinformation,as wellas alarmwakeup and timer.The TWL6032 devicesupports32-kHz clock generationbased on a crystaloscillator. The deviceintegratesa switched-modesystem supplyregulatorfroma USB connector.Itincludespower paths from the USB and batterywithsupplementalmode forimmediatestartup,even withan empty battery.The batteryswitchuses an externallow-ohmicPMOS transistorallowingminimal serialresistanceduringfast chargingand when operatingfrom battery.The devicecan alsobe used withouttheexternalPMOS transistor; the batteryis then always tiedto the system supplyand the switched-moderegulatoris used forbattery charging. The TWL6032 deviceisavailableina 155-pinWCSP package,5.21mm × 5.36mm witha 0.4-mm ballpitch. Figure1 shows theTWL6032 deviceblockdiagram.
