4.2 Procedure
Followtheseprocedureswhen configuringtheEVM fortesting. CAUTION Many ofthecomponents on theTPS826xxEVM-646 aresusceptibletodamage by electrostaticdischarge(ESD). Customers are advisedto observe proper ESD handlingprecautionswhen unpackingand handlingthe EVM, including the use of a grounded wriststrap, bootstraps,or mats at an approved ESD workstation. An electrostaticsmock and safetyglassesshouldalsobe worn. 1. Work atan ESD workstation.Make surethatany wriststraps, bootstraps, ormats areconnectedand referencetheusertoearthgroundbeforepower isappliedtotheEVM. Electrostaticsmocks and safetyglassesshouldalsobe worn. 2. Connecta dc power supplybetween J1 and J2 on theTPS826xxEVM. Note thattheinputvoltage shouldrangefrom2.3V to4.8V.Keep thewiresfromtheinputpower supplytoEVM as shortas possibleand twisted. 3. Connecta dc voltmeteroroscilloscopetotheoutputsense connectionoftheEVM. 4. A loadcan be connectedbetween J4 and J6 on theTPS826xxEVM. 5. To enabletheconverter, connecttheshortingbaron JP1 between ENABLE and ON on the TPS826xxEVM. 6. The TPS826xxEVM has a featurethatallowsuserstoswitchbetween Power-Save Mode underlight loadsand forcedPWM mode, withjumperJP2. 5SLVU383D –October2010–RevisedNovember 2011 TPS826xxEVM SubmitDocumentationFeedback Copyright© 2010–2011,Texas InstrumentsIncorporated
