Su rge P rotec tion Dev ices SD Series The exceptionally highpacking densitiesaretheresult ofan ultraslim footprintforindividualmodules, which can doub le-upas feedback terminals. Each module provides fullhybridsurge protectionfor2 and 3-wire loop protection. Mo duleswitha compreh ensiverange ofvoltageratings coverallprocess relatedsignals such as RTDs, Thermo- couples (THCs),4 -20mA loops, telemetryoutstations, shut-down systems and fireand gas detectors. The optionalloop disconnectfeatured on theSD07,SD 16, SD3 2 and SD55 modules allows users toperform com missioningand maintenance withoutremovingthe surge protection device. In addition,a thirdconnection on the field and safe side ofthe module is provided for safeterminationofshields. Forthreewireapplicationsthe specially designed SDRTD (Resistance Temper ature Detector)and the SD3 2T3,(forseparately pow ered 4 -20mA loops) provide full3-wireprotection ina singlecomp actunit. The SD07R3 provides protectionof 3-wirepressure transducers on low pow ercircuits. Forhigherbandw idthapplications, the SDR Series me etsthedeman ds oftoday’shighestspeed com municationsystems. 120V and 240V AC versions are availableforI/Oand power supplies up tothree Amps ofload current. Telephonenetworks can be protectedby the SDPS TN. Allm odules areDIN-railmou ntableon a TS-35 rail. A com prehensive range ofmou ntingand grounding accessories areavailable. SLP Series The mu lti-stage hybrid surge protection networkatthe heartofthe SLP uses a comb ination ofsolid stateelectronics and a gas filled discharge tube (GDT )toprovide surge protection up to20kA .Thisimp ressive surge protection circuitis designed toexhibitexceptionally low line resistance and adds only a minimal voltage drop to thecircuit. The SLP device does notadverselyaffecttheperformance oroperation ofthe loop orcomb ined equipment during operation. The device allow s signals to pass withverylittle attenuation,w hile diverting surge currents safelytothe ground and clamp ing outputvoltages to safelevels. Fullyautoma tic inoperation,SLP devices reactimme diately toensure thatequipme ntis neverexposed todamag ing surges betw een lines orthe lines and ground.Re acting instantly, the SLP redirects surges safelyto theground and resets automa tically. The versatile SLP series provides fullhybrid surge protection, comb ining protection fortw o process loops into one case. Forhigherbandw idthapplications, the SLP series has been developed to mee tthe dema nds oftoday’shighestspeed commun ication systems .

MA 15 Se ries S u rg e P rotectio n Devices M A15 Series A lthough industrialcomputersand P LCs aredesigned tobe rugged, theextra protectionprovidedby the DIN -rail mou nting MA15 units is critical.Ideally suitedforprotecting panelmounted equipme ntand typically used inthe controlssectionofa motorcontrolcenter (MCC),the MA15 range provides surge and R FIprotectedpow er. With a unique ‘three-stage’comb ination ofprotection elemen ts,these units suppressconductedRFI and voltage surges. The circuitelements are:(1)surge clipping componen tstoabsorbtransient surges thatmay otherwisedama ge equipme nt,(2)a filtertosuppress noise in the system and,(3)ring suppression. Ring suppression preventssurges causing the filterto‘ring’(oscillate)under lowload conditions – an effectthat actuallyaccentuatesinterferenceinmost comme rcially available filters. SuitableforAC orDC application,MA15 unitsreduce bothelectromagnetic emissions and thesusceptibilityofthe associated equipme nttoemissionsfrom othersources.MA15 devices also offer installation flexibility. To protectcircuits rated 15A orless,MA 15devices should be installed inseries. To protecthigher currentcircuits, simply installthe MA15 in parallel. LED status indicationis standardwiththe MA 15units.Thermalfusingisalso incorporatedintoeach 18kA rated device as an additionalsafetyfeature.MA 15 modu les also offershortcircuitprotection foradded safety.
