Refl ectance Compensated Output 4.3 mm Diameter Spot Size (0.171inch) 12.7 mm Operating Range (0.50 inch) 0.6 mv/µm Sensitivity (14 mv/mil) *These are refl ective type transducers based upon detecting the intensity of refl ected light. RC Model sensors have a pair of adjacent fi beroptic detectors in the sensor tip. Light refl ected off the target follows two separate paths back to the electronics where a ratiometric calculation provides the distance measurement which is inde- pendent of varying surface refl ectance; i.e., refl ectance compensated. 0 1 02 03 04 05 0 Increasing Gap Volts Typical RC Model Fiberoptic Cable & Sensor Tip - Actual Size A B C Ø C Side-by-Side Fiberoptics Tip Detail FEATURE mm inch Tip Outer Diameter, Ø C 4.75 0.187 Fiberoptic Diameter 4.34 0.171 Tip Length, C 38.1 1.5 Collar Length, B 15.9 0.625 Collar Diameter, Ø B 7.92 0.312 Cable Length, A 91 36 Cable Diameter, Ø A 6.86 0.275 Cable Min. An alignment fl at is provided on the casing to aid with align- ment. The fl at is ground parallel to the split between the adjacent fi beroptic bundles, and located on the light transmitting side. Refl ectance Compensated Output Largest Standoff in the RC Series 14 mm Operating Range (0.550 inch) 600 mv/mm Sensitivity (16 mv/mil) 10 mm Standoff Distance (0.400 inch) Two Instrument Packages To Choose From This sensor can be provided as an analog or as a digital instrument. For available options and how to order go to www.philtec.com ANALOG OUTPUT A calibration chart is provided with each sensor tip giving the voltage output response to distance. There are three ways to derive accurate distance measurements: a) within the bounds of the linear range, multiply sensitivity by the change in voltage output b) create a lookup table using the XY calibration data points c) use a polynomial curve fi t to accurately map the sensor’s output function DIGITAL OUTPUT DMS units provide distance output via RS232. Gap cali- bration data is stored on board DMS units. They provide accurate distance measurements over the sensor’s entire operating range using a 24 bit internal lookup table. They have storage capacity for many additional calibrations. 3.5 (88.9) 4.0 (101.6) 6.0 (152.4) 6.5 (165) 7.0 (177.8) 2.25 (57.2) 0.190 (4.8) 0.125 (3.2) DMS DIMENSIONS

A nalog sensors are fast responding units ideal for relative motion measurements in dynamic applications:

  • DC-20 KHz is standard
  • DC-200 KHz or higher is optional
  • DC-100 Hz provides best resolution Standard analog units include:
  • Electronics with 0 to +5 VDC output
  • 3 foot long fi beroptic cable D isplacement Measurement Systems (DMS) are the best choice for absolute distance measurements, multiplexing and process control applications, with data rates up to 5,000 readings/second. Two sizes are avail- able: Standard DMS units include:
  • Electronics with RS-232 communication
  • Keypad/LCD for local operation 2.15 (54.6) 3.24 (82.4) 4.36 (110.8) 5.028 (127.7) 5.48 (139.2) 1.87 (47.6) 0.157 x 0.375 0.063 (1.6) ANALOG RC DIMENSIONS
