Description

The g rowing u se of the Internet has created increasingly higher demand fo r mu lti-Gb/s I/O performance. The demand for 10+ Gb/s W AN bandwidth fuels the g rowth of sho rt-reach 10 Gb/s infrastructures within h igh-end te lco an d datacom routers, s witches, se rvers and other proprietary chassis-to-chassis links. The Zarlink PX6410 10 Gb/s serial VCSEL driver is des igned fo r va rious 10 Gb/s PMD applications. It consists of a D C-coupled amplifier w ith adjustable modu lation and bias currents opt imized for driving com mercially available V CSEL-based tra nsmit o ptical su b assemblies (TOSAs) from a single +3.3 V supply. VCSEL modulation and b ias cu rrents can b e programmed b y a variety of means including external re sistors, programmable potentiometers or microcontroller D AC outputs . Selectable current temperature co efficients a nd APC feedback control allow op tical output po wer and extinction ra tio to be maintained over temperature. PX6410
