PSDPRO - PARALLEL PORT PROGRAMMER SUMMARY DESCRIPTION The PSDpro is a high performance engineering programmer designed to program ST's entire fam- ily of PSD products. Through the use of inter- changeable sockets, the PSDpro can be configured to program any of ST’s OTP or Flash- based PSD Products. It is controlled using ST's PSDsoft Express software operating in the IBM- PC compatible Windows 95/98/2000 or NT/XP en- vironment. The PSDpro enables quick program- ming, greatly accelerating the system design process. The PSDpro is easy to use. The parallel port inter- face to the host computer eliminates problems with bus addresses, interrupt assignments, or soft- ware installation. PSDpro is powered by an exter- nal DC power supply SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS Software Must be used with PSDsoft Express software (ver- sion 5.02 ES or later) Hardware PC Compatible Windows 95/98/2000 or NT/ XP 32MB of RAM Hard-Disk space: approximately 30MB CD-ROM Drive Parts List: Parallel cable Power supply adapter (110V or 220V) ST Family Module small edge connector PC board installed atop the programmer prior to shipment PSDpro Programmer INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Connect the parallel cable to the PC and the PSDpro Programmer. Make sure the ST Family module and the Socket Adaptor are firmly seated. Connect the power supply. Go to the main screen of PSDsoft Express and click on the "STMicroelectronics Conventional Programmers" block or Select "STMicroelectronics Conventional Programmers" from the PSDsoft menu. Under the "Options" menu select "Hardware Setup." Configure for PSDpro and choose "Auto Select" or "Manual Select" for the parallel port: Auto Select = PSDsoft selects the port Manual Select = User selects the port Select OK. If there are no error messages, then the setup and auto check procedure is completed. If an error message appears, check all connections and retry by repeating the installation procedure or by merely selecting the "H Test" (Hardware Test) icon on the main screen. Note: Repeat this procedure until there is no longer an error message. If you cannot resolve the conflict, contact ST technical support for assistance via Internet Mail at apps.psd@st.com. The programming instructions are included in the PSDsoft Express User Manual downloadable from the ST website, www.st.com/psm. Please refer to this manual for programming assistance.
