E ach c ore m aterial h as a d ifferent re sistance a nd e ffective f requency r ange. T he Mn Zn core material has a lower resistance compared t o th e N iZn; th erefore, a dequate in sulation i s r equired b efore u se. The NiZn core material is typically effective for frequencies i n th e M Hz b and r ange s uch a s t he FM -band, w hile th e M nZn c ore m aterial i s t ypically ef fective f or th e k Hz b and r ange s uch a s t he A band. D epending o n i ts m agnetic p ermeability, a p articular f errite m aterial w ill b e e ffective i n a c ertain fr equency b and. While the EMI Cores themselves are quite robust in other en vironments, a void e xposure t o h igh t emperatures, hi gh h umidity, c orrosive a tmospheres a nd l ong t erm s torage f or c ase, sn ap-on and split types. KEMET r ecommends th at m aximum s torage t emperature n ot e xceed 4 0°C a nd m aximum s torage h umidity n ot e xceed 7 re lative h umidity. A tmospheres s hould b e f ree o f c hlorine, s ulfur a nd a lkali b earing c ompounds. A void a lso s torage n ear str ong m agnetic fi elds a s th is m ight m agnetize th e p roduct. Temperature fl uctuations s hould b e mi nimized t o a void c ondensation o r c racks o n th e p arts. M echanical s hocks c an b ring to c racks as well.
