DESCRIPTION
The DRBC-1 Dual Rate Battery Charger is a solid-state, fully automatic device that will provide sufficient current to maintain compatible rechargeable batteries at full charge re- gardless of variations in line voltage or load. Two charging modes are provided: FLOAT, which main- tains a charged battery in fully charged condition and HIGH RATE, which permits a discharged battery to be charged rap- idly. The charger senses the battery condition by monitoring the current drawn by the battery at a particular cell voltage. If the battery attempts to draw more than a specified amount of current from the charger, it will automatically switch to the High Rate mode and maintain a high rate of charge current until the batteries requirements are met. The DRBC-1 will then automatically switch to the Float mode. The DRBC-1 may provide system compatible battery su- pervision, high rate indication and self-contained trouble in- dications with audible trouble silence (with “ring-back”). Over-current and reverse polarity protection are provided as well as internal fuse protection. The charger is enclosed in a louvered 16 gauge steel enclo- sure 12"Wx1 3 "Hx4 "D (30.48 x 33.02 x 10.16 cm) with a viewing window to readily show all status indicators without opening the cabinet.
