1.8-V PHASE LOCK LOOP CLOCK DRIVER SCAS688D JUNE 2005 REVISED JULY 2007 Low Static Phase Offset: ps 1.8-V Phase Lock Loop Clock Driver for Distributes One Differential Clock Input to Ten Double Data Rate (DDR II)
Applications
μ BGA MicroStar Junior BGA, 0,65-mm pitch) and 40-Pin MLF Operating Frequency: MHz to 400 MHz External Feedback Pins (FBIN, FBIN are Used Low Current Consumption: <135 mA to Synchronize the Outputs to the Input Low Jitter (Cycle-Cycle): ps Clocks Low Output Skew: ps Meets or Exceeds JESD82-8 PLL Standard for Low Period Jitter: ps PC2-3200/4300 Low Dynamic Phase Offset: ps Fail-Safe Inputs The CDCU877 is a high-performance, low-jitter, low-skew, zero-delay buffer that distributes a differential clock input pair (CK, CK to ten differential pairs of clock outputs (Yn, Yn and to one differential pair of feedback clock outputs (FBOUT, FBOUT The clock outputs are controlled by the input clocks (CK, CK the feedback clocks (FBIN, FBIN the LVCMOS control pins (OE, OS), and the analog power input (AV DD When OE is low, the clock outputs, except FBOUT/ FBOUT are disabled while the internal PLL continues to maintain its locked-in frequency. OS (output select) is a program pin that must be tied to GND or V DD When OS is high, OE functions as previously described. When OS and OE are both low, OE has no affect on Y7/ they are free running. When AV DD is grounded, the PLL is turned off and bypassed for test purposes. When both clock inputs (CK, CK are logic low, the device enters in a low power mode. An input logic detection circuit on the differential inputs, independent from input buffers, detects the logic low level and performs in a low power state where all outputs, the feedback, and the PLL are off. When the clock inputs transition from being logic low to being differential signals, the PLL turns back on, the inputs and the outputs are enabled, and the PLL obtains phase lock between the feedback clock pair (FBIN, FBIN and the clock input pair (CK, CK within the specified stabilization time. The CDCU877 is able to track spread spectrum clocking (SSC) for reduced EMI. The load/board in Figure is used to measure the input and output differential-pair cross voltage only. The load/board in Figure is used to measure all other tests. For consistency, equal length cables must be used. (2) This parameter is specifieded by design and characterization. (3) Phase static offset time does not include jitter. (4) Period jitter, half-period jitter specifications are separate specifications that must be met independently of each other. (5) The output slew rate is determined from the IBIS model with a 120- Ω load only. (6) To eliminate the impact of input slew rates on static phase offset, the input skew rates of reference clock input CK and CK and feedback clock inputs FBIN and FBIN are recommended to be nearly equal. The 2.5-V/ns skew rates are shown as a recommended target. Compliance with these typical values is not mandatory if it can adequately shown that alternative characteristics meet the requirements of the registered DDR2 DIMM application. (7) Output differential-pair cross voltage specified at the DRAM clock input or the test load. (8) V OX of CDCU877A is on average mV lower than that of CDCU877 for the same application. (2) Eco Plan - The planned eco-friendly classification: Pb-Free (RoHS), Pb-Free (RoHS Exempt), or Green (RoHS & no Sb/Br) - please check http://www.ti.com/productcontent for the latest availability information and additional product content details. TBD: The Pb-Free/Green conversion plan has not been defined. Pb-Free (RoHS): TI's terms "Lead-Free" or "Pb-Free" mean semiconductor products that are compatible with the current RoHS requirements for all 6 substances, including the requirement that lead not exceed 0.1% by weight in homogeneous materials. Where designed to be soldered at high temperatures, TI Pb-Free products are suitable for use in specified lead-free processes. Pb-Free (RoHS Exempt): This component has a RoHS exemption for either 1) lead-based flip-chip solder bumps used between the die and package, or 2) lead-based die adhesive used between the die and leadframe. The component is otherwise considered Pb-Free (RoHS compatible) as defined above. Green (RoHS & no Sb/Br): TI defines "Green" to mean Pb-Free (RoHS compatible), and free of Bromine (Br) and Antimony (Sb) based flame retardants (Br or Sb do not exceed 0.1% by weight in homogeneous material) (3) MSL, Peak Temp. - The Moisture Sensitivity Level rating according to the JEDEC industry standard classifications, and peak solder temperature. (4) There may be additional marking, which relates to the logo, the lot trace code information, or the environmental category on the device. (5) Multiple Device Markings will be inside parentheses. Only one Device Marking contained in parentheses and separated by a "~" will appear on a device. If a line is indented then it is a continuation of the previous line and the two combined represent the entire Device Marking for that device. (6) Lead/Ball Finish - Orderable Devices may have multiple material finish options. Finish options are separated by a vertical ruled line. Lead/Ball Finish values may wrap to two lines if the finish value exceeds the maximum column width. Use of such information may require a license from a third party under the patents or other intellectual property of the third party, or a license from TI under the patents or other intellectual property of TI. Reproduction of significant portions of TI information in TI data books or data sheets is permissible only if reproduction is without alteration and is accompanied by all associated warranties, conditions, limitations, and notices. TI is not responsible or liable for such altered documentation. Information of third parties may be subject to additional restrictions. Resale of TI components or services with statements different from or beyond the parameters stated by TI for that component or service voids all express and any implied warranties for the associated TI component or service and is an unfair and deceptive business practice. TI is not responsible or liable for any such statements. Buyer acknowledges and agrees that it is solely responsible for compliance with all legal, regulatory and safety-related requirements concerning its products, and any use of TI components in its applications, notwithstanding any applications-related information or support that may be provided by TI. Buyer represents and agrees that it has all the necessary expertise to create and implement safeguards which anticipate dangerous consequences of failures, monitor failures and their consequences, lessen the likelihood of failures that might cause harm and take appropriate remedial actions. Buyer will fully indemnify TI and its representatives against any damages arising out of the use of any TI components in safety-critical applications. In some cases, TI components may be promoted specifically to facilitate safety-related applications. With such components, TI’s goal is to help enable customers to design and create their own end-product solutions that meet applicable functional safety standards and requirements. Nonetheless, such components are subject to these terms. No TI components are authorized for use in FDA Class III (or similar life-critical medical equipment) unless authorized officers of the parties have executed a special agreement specifically governing such use. Only those TI components which TI has specifically designated as military grade or “enhanced plastic”are designed and intended for use in military/aerospace applications or environments. Buyer acknowledges and agrees that any military or aerospace use of TI components which have not been so designated is solely at the Buyer's risk, and that Buyer is solely responsible for compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements in connection with such use. TI has specifically designated certain components as meeting ISO/TS16949 requirements, mainly for automotive use. In any case of use of non-designated products, TI will not be responsible for any failure to meet ISO/TS16949.
