FEATURES
Fast2.0fLSAcquisitionTime to :0.01% Low Droop Rate:O.5mV/ms Low Offset Low Glitch:<40mV ApertureJitter:4OOps Extended Temperature Range: -55"C to + 125.C InternalHold Capacitor MIL-STD-883B ProcessingAvailable PRODUCT DESCRIPTION The AD346 isa high speed (2J.lSto0.01%), adiustmem free sample-and-holdamplifierdesignedforhigh throughput rate data acquisitionapplications. The fastacquisitiontime (211s(0 0.01%) and low aperturejitter(400ps)make itsuitableforuse with fastAID converterstodigitizesignalsup to97kHz. The AD346 iscomplete with an internalhold capacitorand it incorporatesa compensationnetwork which minimizesthesample tohold chargeoffset. The AD346 isalsolasertrimmed toeliminate the need forexternaltrimming potentiometers. TypicalapplicationsfortheAD346 includesampled datasystems, D/A deglitchers, peak hold functions, strobcdmeasurement systemsand simultaneoussampling convertersystems. The deviceisavailablein tWo versions:the "J" specifiedfor operationover the0 to + 700C commercial temperaturerange and the "S" specifiedover theextended temperaturerange, -55°C to + 125°C. HighSpeed Sample-and- Hold Amplifier AD346 I FUNCTIONAL BLOCK DIAGRAM +vs 8) ~~~t~ S)~~~LOG PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS 1. The AD346 isan improved second sourceforothersample and holdsof the same pin configuration. 2. The AD346 providesseparateanalogand digitalgrounds, thusimproving thedevice'simmunity toground and switching transients. 3. The droop rateisonly O.SmV/ms so thatitmay be used in slowerhigh accuracysystemswithout thelossof accuracy. 4. The fastacquisitiontime and low aperturemake itsuitable forvery high speed dataacquisitionsystems. PIN CONFIGURATION

Droop vs. Temperature (;1:5Volts) GROUNDING Many data-acquisitioncomponents have two or more ground pinswhich arenot connected togetherwithinthe device. These "grounds" areusuallyreferredtoas the Logic Power Return, Analog Common (Analog Power Return),and Analog Signal Ground. These grounds must be tiedtogetheratone point, usuallyatthe system power-supplyground. Ideally,a single solidground would be desirable. However, sincecurrentflows through theground wiresand etchstripesof the circuitcards, and sincethesepathshave resistanceand inductancc, hundreds of millivoltscan be generatedbetween the system ground point and the ground pinsof tbe AD346. Separateground retUrns should be providedto minimize the currentflow in the path from sensitivepointsto the system ground point. In thisway supply currentsand logic-gatereturncurrentsare not summed intothe same returnpath as analogsignalswhere tbey would causemeasurement errors.
