June, 2017 3M™ Repulpable Double-Coated Splicing Tape 900B Product Description 3M™ Repulpable Double-Coated Splicing Tape 900B has a light-weight tissue coated on both sides with a blue, repulpable adhesive and furnished on a repulpable easy-release paper liner. Product Features

  • Can be used for splicing of many LWC (light weight coated) papers, particularly for coated gravure papers. It has also performed well in many other nished splice applications, even with “alkaline coatings” and with stearate sizing.
  • Packing in sealed plastic bags helps assure constant moisture content of unused tape.
  • Water solubility and alkali dispersability are excellent and eliminate danger of contaminating the paper mill broke with non-repulpable material. (Poor quality paper and plugged Fourdrinier screens can be caused by non- repulpable, rubber- base splicing media.)
  • All components of the adhesive and backing meet the requirements of indirect food additive regulations as described under 21 CFR 176.170 (Components of paper and paperboard in contact with aqueous and fatty food) and 21 CFR 176.180 (Components of paper and paperboard in contact with dry foods).

  • Overlap nished splices in a paper mill (especially on many papers with LWC and other new coating formulations).
  • Transfer (pull through) splices in Supercalenders. Application Techniques For optimum results, rm, even rub down pressure must be applied to the taped area to create the best possible adhesion between the tape and paper surface. A plastic squeegee or similar tool can help achieve the proper uniform pressure. Storage and Shelf Life Store under normal conditions of 70°F (21°C) and 50% R.H. in the original carton.
