3M™ Lapping Film 865X For Final Polishing of Fiber Optic Connectors Advanced technology helps deliver a better value
- Consistent performance
- Slurry free – less mess
- Suitable for all polishing equipment
- Highest quality end face More ProfitPerPolish Introducing 3M’s Newest, Longest Lasting Final Polish Film
3M™ Lapping Film final polish products give you a new dimension of consistency and control for polishing ceramic fiber optic connectors. These advanced polishing films are engineered to last longer, for higher yields, less rework and lower costs per part. 3M lapping films deliver consistent results, reducing the need for costly rework. And they easily produce optimal fiber height and outstanding visual quality, helping finished connectors meet Telecordia standards. These films contain proprietary high performance silica and resins coated on 3 mil films. 3M final polish products are part of a complete lineup of lapping films designed for fiber optic connector polishing. They provide precision alternatives to messy slurries that require time-intensive cleanup. When used together as an integrated system, these matched 3M technologies can deliver even greater process improvements, while helping to simplify sourcing and recordkeeping. - High quality connector end face
- Gives positive or zero protrusion under controlled conditions.
- Good insertion loss and back reflection
- Good end face geometry
- Reduces rework
- Longer lifetime, for lower cost per connector Film Features Polishing Machine Compatibility Product Configuration 865X High quality. Lasts 2 to 3x longer than our original final polish films. Maintains good fiber heights with tight standard deviation. Easy to use on most common machine types. Available in discs, sheets and rolls. Standard and custom sizes. 863X Polishes more slowly than 863XW. Offers more controlled cut rate. For use on most polishing machines and fixtures, including machines that run at higher speeds and higher pressures. Available in discs, sheets and rolls. Standard and custom sizes. 863XW Higher mineral content than 863X, for faster polishing. Designed for use on machines that run at lower speeds and lower pressures. Can be used on IPC (Individual Pressure Control) fixtures that allow connectors to float independently under lower pressures. Available in discs, sheets and rolls. Standard and custom sizes. Actual usage could be longer or shorter depending on equipment, connectors, and process conditions.
