It is generally used with the SN54LS/74LS181 Bi eneatmanteLagig Unit provge high speed lookahead over word Jengths of more than four bits. FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION — The SNS4LS/74LS182, carry lookahead generator accepts up to four pairs of active LOW Carry Propagate (Po. Py, P2, P3)and Carry Generate (Go, G1, Gz, Gg) signals and an active HIGH Carry Input (Cp) and provides anticipated active HIGH carries (Cr+x, Cn-+y. Cn+z) across four groups of binary adders. The SN54LS/741S182 also has active LOW Carry Propagate (P) and Carry Generate (G) outputs which may be used for further levels of lookahead. The logic equations provided at the outputs are: Ch+x = Go + PoC Cnty = G1 + P1Go = PyPOCh Ghz = Ga + P2Gy = P2P2G0 + P2P1PoCn G =G3 + P3G2 + PaP2Gq + P3P2P1Go P -=P3P2P1P9 Also, the SN54LS/74LS182 can be used with binary ALUs in an active LOW or active HIGH. input operand mode. The connections to and from the ALU to the carry lookahead generator are identical in both cases.
