D esign & C onstruction There are three m ain com ponents of Series 7000 Tim ing R elays: Tim ing Head cir cu lates air through a vari able length to provide linearly adjustable tim ing. P at ent ed design pro - vides easy ad just ment and long service life under severe operating con di tions. P recision-W ound P otted C oil Total sealing w ithout external leads elim inates m oisture prob lem s, gives m axim um insulation value. Snap-Action Sw itch Assem bly — custom -de signed over-center m echa - nism provides snap action. Standard sw itches are DP DT arrangem ent. Each of these subassem blies form s self-con tained m od ules assem bled at the factory w ith the other tw o to afford a w ide choice of operating types, coil voltages, and tim ing ranges. The squared design with front term inals and rear m ounting perm its the grouping of Series 7000 units side-by-side in m ini - m um panel space. A uxiliary switch es m ay be add ed in the base of the unit, without affecting the overall width or depth. Operation Tw o basic operating types are available. “O n-De lay” m od els provide a delay period on energization, at the end of w hich the sw itch transfers the load from one set of contacts to an oth er. De-energizing the unit dur ing the delay period im me di ate ly recycles the unit, ready ing it for another full de lay period on re-energization. In "O ff-Delay" m odels the sw itch trans - fers the load im me di ate ly upon energiza - tion and the delay period does not be gin until the unit is de-energized. A t the end of the delay period the sw itch returns to its original po si tion. R e- en er giz ing the unit during the delay period im me di ate ly resets the tim ing, ready ing it for another full delay period on de-energization. N o pow er is required during the tim ing period, providing a true off delay. In addition to these basic operating types, “Double-H ead” m odels offer sequential delays on pull-in and drop-out in one unit. W ith the addition of auxiliary sw itches the basic m odels provide tw o- step tim ing. Note: Seism ic & radiation tested E 7 0 0 0 m odels are available. C onsult factory for detailed in for ma tion. On-delay m odel 7 0 1 2 (delay on pickup) A pplying voltage to the coil (L1-L2) for at least 5 0 m sec starts a tim e delay lasting for the preset tim e. D uring this pe ri od the nor mal ly closed con tacts (3-5 and 4 -6) re main closed. A t the end of the delay period the nor mal ly closed contacts break and the norm ally open contacts (1-5 and 2-6) m ake. T he con tacts re main in this trans ferred po si tion until the coil is deenergized, at w hich tim e the sw itch re turns to its orig i nal position. De-energizing the coil, either dur ing or after the de lay pe ri od, w ill re cy cle the unit w ithin 5 0 m sec. It w ill then pro vide a full delay period upon re-energization, re gard less of how often the coil voltage is in ter rupt ed before the unit has been per mit ted to "tim e-out" to its full delay setting. Off-delay m odel 7 0 22 (delay on dropout) A pplying voltage to the coil (for at least 5 0 m sec) w ill transfer the sw itch, breaking the nor mal ly closed contacts (1-5 and 2-6), and m ak ing the nor mal ly open contacts (3-5 and 4 -6). C ontacts rem ain in this transferred position as long as the coil is en er gized. T he tim e delay be gins im m ediately upon de-energization. A t the end of the de lay period the sw itch returns to its norm al po si tion. R e-energizing the coil during the delay period w ill im me di ate ly return the tim ing m echanism to a point w here it w ill pro - vide a full delay period upon sub se quent de-energization. T he sw itch rem ains in the transferred position. A m axim um of one Code T or tw o Code L auxiliary sw itch es m ay be added to each relay. The L or LL sw itch is available w ith on-delay relays only. T he T sw itch is available w ith both the on-delay and off-de lay relays. Auxiliary Sw itch Options for On-D elay Instant Transfer (Auxiliary Sw itch C ode L, m ax i mum of 2 per relay.) 1. Energizing coil begins tim e delay and transfers aux il ia ry sw itch. 2. M ain sw itch transfers after total preset delay. 3. De-energizing coil resets both sw itches instantly. A uxiliary sw itch is nonadjustable. Tw o-Step Tim ing (Auxiliary Sw itch C ode T, m ax i mum of 1 per relay.) 1. Energizing coil begins tim e delay. 2. A fter first delay auxiliary sw itch transfers. 3. M ain sw itch transfers after total preset delay. 4 . De-energizing coil resets both sw itches instantly. First delay is independently adjustable, up to 30% of over all delay. (R ec om mend ed m axim um 100 sec onds.) Auxiliary Sw itch Options for Off-D elay In these m odels the sam e auxiliary sw itch provides ei ther tw o-step tim ing or instant transfer action, de pend ing on the ad just ment of the actuator. A uxiliary sw itch is factory adjusted to give instant trans fer op er a tion. Tw o-step tim ing m ay be set at the factory to cus - tom er specification up to a 3:2 ratio. T he Double H ead m odel provides delayed sw itch trans fer on energization of its coil, and de layed resetting upon coil de- energization. Each delay period is in de pen dent ly adjustable. In new circuit designs or the im provem ent of ex ist ing con trols now using tw o or m ore conventional tim ers, the Double H ead unit offers distinct advantages. Its com pact design saves panel space, w hile the sim plified w iring reduces costly in ter con nec tion. On-delay, Off-delay M odel 7 0 32 (D ouble Head) W ith the addition of an extra sw itch block at the bot tom of the basic unit, this version of the Series 7000 offers four pole sw itch capacity w ith sim ul taneous tim ing or tw o-step tim ing. T he tw o-step operation is achieved by factory adjustm ent to your specifications. For tw o-step operation, a m axim um tim ing ratio be tw een upper and low er sw itches of 3:2 is rec om mend ed. O nce ad - just ed at the factory, this ratio rem ains con stant regardless of changes in dial settings. (Ex: If up per sw itch transfer is set on dial at 60 sec., m inim um tim e on low er sw itch should be 4 0 sec.) T his Series 7000 unit offers m any of the per for m ance fea - tures found in basic m odels — voltage ranges, tim ing and sw itch capacities. Four pole m odels add approxim ately 1-1/4 " to the m ax i - mum height of the basic m odel, approxim ately 1/8" to the depth. T hey are designed for vertical op er a tion only.
