Multi-Network Cable T ester The 230A tests thin Ethernet (BNC), 10BaseT (UTP/STP), 100BaseTx, RJ45, TIA- 568A, TIA-568B, and T oken Ring cables within a few seconds. It detects miswiring, polarization, and continuity. The 230A also tests the ground of shielded twisted pair cables. With the remote kit, it can test cables installed far away either on wall plate or patch panel up to 1000ft away. It can identify not only the wiring faults, such as open pairs, shorted pairs, reversed pairs, crossed pairs and split pairs, but can also identify up to 4 different cables at one end. A large flashing LED displays the fault code, and the 4 pairs individual LEDs tells you which pairs are tested. The remote identifiers are provided to make a remote test. Just push the “TEST” switch. It will automatically run all tests within a few seconds and show you what faults are present. The 240’s tone generator feature can be used to trace installed cables and locate areas of discontinuity.
