The DS22EV5110 isa DVI/HDMI videosignalreconditioningdevice. The deviceconformstoDVI v1.0and HDMI v1.3astandardssupportingup to6.75Gbps totalthroughputTMDS datafor1080p with36 bitdeep colordepth. TYPICAL APPLICATION The DS22EV5110 isused as a DVI/HDMI sourcedevice, sinkdevice, ora repeaterdevice, see Figure8.As the sourcedevice, the outputde-emphasissettingshouldbe configuredbased on the drivingcablelength. When used as the sinkdevice, the levelsof the equalizationboostof the inputdata channelsshouldbe optimized based on thereceivingcablelength. The DS22EV5110 can alsobe used as a repeaterinan externalextender box withtheequalizationand de-emphasislevelsettingsoptimizedtoprovidethemaximum cablereach. Figure8. TypicalApplicationDiagram DC AND AC COUPLED APPLICATIONS The DS22EV5110 isdesignedtosupportTMDS differentialpairswithDC coupledtransmissionlines.Itcontains integratedterminationresistors(50Ω),pulledup toVDD attheinputstage, and open collectoroutputsforDVI / HDMI signaling.Figure9 shows theDC coupledconnectionbetween theHDMI Source (ie.DS22EV5110) and HDMI Sink (ie.DS22EV5110) devices. In the DC coupled application, the externalresistanceof 24 kΩ at VOD_CRL pinisused attheSource toensuretheVO levelof1000 mVp-p. The AC coupledmethod connecting between the Source and the Sink devicesmay be preferredto eliminatethe impactof the ground potential difference,or to use one CAT5/6 cablebetween two chassis. To optimizethe DS22EV5110 performance, the externalresistanceof12 kΩ attheVOD_CRL pinshouldbe used on theSource DS22EV5110, and a pairof50 Ω pull-upresistorsshouldbe placedclosetotheoutputsoftheSource DS22EV5110, inordertoDC biasthe outputdriver.Meanwhile,622Ω pull-downresistorsshouldbe placedat the inputsof the Sink DS22EV5110 device, inordertosettheinputcommon mode toa 3.05V.Note AC coupledconfigurationisnotcomplianttothe HDMI specificationofSourcerequirement(See Figure10). First, thesupply(VDD) and ground(GND) pinsshouldbe connectedtopower planesroutedon adjacentlayers of the printedcircuitboard. The layerthicknessof the dielectricshouldbe minimizedso the VDD and GND planes createa low inductancesupply with distributedcapacitance.Second, carefulattentionto supply bypassingthroughthe properuse of bypass capacitorsis required.A 0.1 μF bypass capacitorshould be connectedtoeach VDD pinsuch thatthecapacitorisplacedas closeas possibletotheDS22EV5110. Smaller body size capacitorscan help facilitateproper component placement.Additionally, two capacitorswith capacitanceintherange of2.2μF to10 μF shouldbe incorporatedinthepower supplybypassingdesignas well. These capacitorscan be eithertantalumor an ultra-lowESR ceramicand shouldbe placedas closeas possibletotheDS22EV5110. (2) Material type: When designated, preproduction parts are prototypes/experimental devices, and are not yet approved or released for full production. Testing and final process, including without limitation quality assurance, reliability performance testing, and/or process qualification, may not yet be complete, and this item is subject to further changes or possible discontinuation. If available for ordering, purchases will be subject to an additional waiver at checkout, and are intended for early internal evaluation purposes only. These items are sold without warranties of any kind. (3) RoHS values: Yes, No, RoHS Exempt. See the TI RoHS Statement for additional information and value definition. (4) Lead finish/Ball material: Parts may have multiple material finish options. Finish options are separated by a vertical ruled line. Lead finish/Ball material values may wrap to two lines if the finish value exceeds the maximum column width. (5) MSL rating/Peak reflow: The moisture sensitivity level ratings and peak solder (reflow) temperatures. In the event that a part has multiple moisture sensitivity ratings, only the lowest level per JEDEC standards is shown. Refer to the shipping label for the actual reflow temperature that will be used to mount the part to the printed circuit board. (6) Part marking: There may be an additional marking, which relates to the logo, the lot trace code information, or the environmental category of the part. Multiple part markings will be inside parentheses. Only one part marking contained in parentheses and separated by a "~" will appear on a part. If a line is indented then it is a continuation of the previous line and the two combined represent the entire part marking for that device.
